Ukraine and the EU have agreed to deepen cooperation in fight against disinformation. In particular, the High-level Group on Strategic Communications meetings, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, will be resumed soon. Corresponding agreements were reached at a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Kuleba with European experts, which was held in Brussels, Government portal reported.

The parties have already discussed the formats for involving Ukraine in the activities of the Working Group of the DG Communication Task Force on disinformation, as well as deepening cooperation with the EU East StratCom Task Force.

“In the near future, we will prepare and hold a meeting of representatives of the EU and Ukraine at a high level to discuss together the issues of countering disinformation and increasing resistance to informational influences,” Kuleba said.

Ukraine is interested in creating a mechanism for sharing information and best practices between Ukrainian and European experts in the field of countering disinformation, strategic communications and cybersecurity in order to strengthen the ability of Ukrainian institutions to withstand Russia’s hybrid attacks.

Kuleba also noted that Ukraine is interested in joining the EU’s Rapid Alert System, which is being set up to quickly respond to disinformation campaigns.
