Ukraine, Finland and Japan discuss counteraction to hybrid threats

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Zahorodniuk and the Ministers of Defense of Finland Antti Kaikkonen and Japan Tarō Kōno have discussed the issues of countering hybrid threats.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, during a meeting in Germany Zahorodniuk and Kaikkonen considered the cooperation across multiple spheres, which look promising.

The ministers also exchanged their views on further cooperation on the preparation of military personnel for peacekeeping missions, joint participation in international military exercises and peacekeeping and security operations, cooperation in the field of military education and training of military personnel.

At a meeting with Mr. Tarō Kōno, Zahorodniuk noted the intensification of defense cooperation between Ukraine and Japan in recent years, as well as the importance of further expanding cooperation between defense departments.

The parties discussed the further implementation of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Japan on cooperation and exchanges in the field of defense.

Ministers noted the possibility of cooperation in the areas of cybersecurity, the exchange of experience (including combating hybrid threats), expanding participation in joint exercises, as well as cooperation in high-tech projects and digitalization.
