The Ministry of Health does not exclude the introduction of a weekend quarantine in Ukraine. This is necessary to break the chain of disease transmission.

The Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said this on the air of the program “Snidanok z 1 + 1”.

“We are considering strengthening quarantine restrictions. I do not rule out that we will offer a weekend quarantine – this is when stricter restrictions will be in effect on weekends. We are doing this to break the chain of transmission of the disease,” Stepanov emphasized.

He clarified that such a quarantine involves the closure of more stores on Saturday-Sunday. For example, cafes and restaurants, will not work (only takeaways).

At the same time, Stepanov ruled out the possibility of introducing a curfew. He explained that for this, a state of emergency should be introduced in the country.

“There will be no curfew … To introduce it, a state of emergency must be introduced in the country. It is introduced by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, then the President, then the Verkhovna Rada,” the head of the Ministry of Health said.

In response to a clarifying question whether the Ministry of Health would recommend a curfew, Stepanov said: “We do not recommend.”
