Ukraine has upgraded a ACS-3 version (Raybird-3) drone, which is used by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for aerial reconnaissance, Ukrmilitary reports.

According to the developers, the previous version of the ACS-3 was able to climb to an altitude of 2.5 km and stay aloft for 20 hours. In 2016, this UAV was approved for operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and began to supply them to the army in 2019. The civilian version of the Raybird-3 drone even set a Ukrainian record for the duration of continuous airborne stay, namely 24 hours and 31 minutes.

But the modernized UAV has a new Japanese injection engine, which is more economical and reliable. Thanks to it, the flight altitude increased to about 4,500 m.

One of the features of the new features of Raybird-3 is its trick – the client-server architecture. That is, if previously one person controlled one drone, now any number of UAVs can be connected to the ground control station and vice versa – any number of users can be connected to one device. If several users are connected to one drone, then the program is able to differentiate their rights. For example, one operator can only observe the actions of the drone, while the other can control it.

Also, thanks to the new software, it became easier for the operator to control the unmanned aerial vehicle thanks to a fully graphical interface without tables for the flight task.

According to the developer, the time in the air for the UAV depends on the mass and type of payload. With a camera, the drone will fly for more than 30 hours; with a video, this figure will depend on the intensity of its use and will be about 20 hours.
