Operator of Ukraine’s Gas Transmission System (which will be transferred to the Ukrainian GTS from January 1, 2020) has signed an inter-operator agreement for importing gas from Southern Europe. This was reported by the press service of the company.

Negotiations on the opening of a new gas transportation route lasted 3 years, with the mediation of the European Commission. Previously, they were conducted by Naftogaz.

“As a result, Operator of Ukraine’s Gas Transportation System and the Romanian Transgaz signed an inter-operator agreement on cooperation in accordance with European rules from January 1, 2020,” the message says.

The agreement will allow Ukrainian companies to import gas from the south, in particular from Turkey through Bulgaria and Romania.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine, Azerbaijan agreed to develop gas supplies from Central Asia.
