Ukraine plans to open one new embassy and two general consulates in 2020

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Zayats said that it is planned to open one new embassy and two general consulates in 2020.

“We intend to open three new institutions next year – the embassy in Albania, the consulate general in Marseille (consular services in France are provided only in Paris) and the consulate general of Ukraine in Houston (USA). Already received the approval of the President of Ukraine, we are waiting for the agreement of counterparties. I hope that in the Q3 of 2020, these institutions will start its work,” the Ukrainian diplomat said in an interview with Apostrof.

According to Zayats, the priority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to increase the number of consular officials in the busiest institutions. Manning table for 2020 are also being developed.

“We significantly increase the number of consuls in Poland, in Israel and other countries where we see the greatest workload. And we see the workload for each institution almost online thanks to the “electronic consul”. And no one can make any additions,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
