Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan proposed that Qatar Airways set up a subsidiary in Ukraine, the ministry’s press service reported.
Minister Omelyan and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ukraine Hadi bin Nasser Al Hajri have discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of transport and investment in infrastructure projects in Ukraine, including the deepening of cooperation in aviation and the maritime industry.
“The minister said that the aviation industry in Ukraine was developing rapidly and the passenger flow was a record high in 2018. He also noted that the figure could double in three or four years. He suggested that the Qatari side consider the creation of a Ukrainian-based subsidiary of Qatar Airways, as well as the development of cooperation in transportation of cargo by air,” the report says.
It is noted that the proposal to establish in Ukraine a subsidiary of Qatar Airways concerns not only freight, but also passenger transportation.
“This is our proposal now. There has been no confirmation from the Qatari side yet. We’ve provided our information and feasibility study. They are considering our proposal now. Negotiations are underway,” the minister said.
