Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin noted that during the bilateral negotiations the Iranian side confirmed its readiness to pay compensations for the damage, incl. to UIA airlines. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“It is difficult for me to imagine the possibility of avoiding by the Iranian side responsibility for the downed Ukrainian Boeing, and all the players involved understand this,” Yenin said.
He also stressed that during the negotiations, the parties agreed to include the compensation issue in the agenda of the next round of negotiations.
To him, the Ukrainian liner was insured by one of the European insurance companies, which, in turn, reinsured its risks with other insurers.
“Accordingly, Iran will have to compensate for the losses of UIA, if not directly, then in regressive order to the relevant insurance companies, but it is all about the same compensations,” the statement reads.
