Ukraine’s parliament appoints new NBU Council member

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Vitaliy Shapran a new member of the National Bank Council. He will hold this post until July 7, 2021.

The relevant decision was backed by 268 people’s deputies at the session hold on November 12. Vitaliy Shapran replaced Tymofiy Mylovanov, after [Mylovanov] took the post of Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture.

Shapran graduated from Kyiv National Economic University, in 2005 he defended his thesis, conducted researches on problems of banks in the securities market. Since October 2010, he headed the rating committee of the Ukrainian Professional Association for the Protection of Investors and Insurers.

In July 2014, he was re-elected to the public council at the National Commission for Securities and Stock Market, where he headed the stock market openness committee. Also in early 2015, Shapran became a member of one of the working groups of the expert council of the Deposit Guarantee Fund for individuals.
