The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported that the population of Ukraine in 2019 decreased by 250,800 people compared to 2018.

Thus, as of January 1, 2020, the population of the Ukrainian state amounted to 41,902,000 people.

It is also noted that 308,800 children were born in 2019, while a year earlier this indicator was 335,900.

Over the past year, a population declined by 581,100 people, while in 2018 the natural decrease was 587,700 people.

At the same time, the number of people who came to Ukraine exceeded the number of people who left the country by 25,512 people. In 2018, this indicator was 18,589 people.

At the same time, a significant excess of the number of deaths over the number of newborns was recorded: 100 deaths vs 53 newborns.

The population calculation data covers all oblasts of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

As The Journalist reported, About 3.7 mln people reside in Kyiv, Ukraine.
