Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, speaking on UA:Pershyi TV channel, has said Ukraine, together with international partners, will not let Iran to avoid responsibility for the downing of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) flight.

Mr. Kuleba noted that the Embassy of Ukraine in Tehran had already responded to a statement by Iranian MP Hassan Norouzi about the allegedly “correct” actions of the Iranian military who shot down the Ukrainian plane. According to the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, a note was sent to the Iranian authorities to receive official explanations of Iran’s position.

“As in our country, deputies may say whatever they want to increase their rating inside the country, rely on facts, manipulate facts. We must rely on official information, therefore, when we receive official information from Iran, we will draw the appropriate conclusions,” Kuleba emphasized.

“But we will by no means allow Iran to avoid responsibility for the tragedy that happened, and we will work with them in order to get black boxes back, as well as to agree on the parameters of legal liability for what happened,” the minister said.

Kuleba also added that Ukraine would not act alone, but together with international partners, primarily with Canada.

As it became known, the speaker of the Committee on Legal and Judicial Issues of the Iranian Parliament, MP Hassan Norouzi, said that the Iranian military did “well” by downing Ukrainian civilian airliner in January.

According to Al Arabiya, no arrests have been made in connection to the incident, contrary to official statements.

“The armed forces carried out their duties well. The movement of the aircraft was very suspicious. The plane was no longer under the control of the control tower and appeared to have come under America’s control,” Norouzi said.

According to the Iranian deputy, “the plane was in Israel the week before,” and its control system was tempered with to set “special targets” in Iran. However, he did not specify what the targets were.

“Taking into account that the aircraft was being controlled by other countries, our armed forces carried out their duty well,” Norouzi is convinced.

The speaker made it clear that there would be no arrests for the downing of the plane.
