Ukrainian army received 50 modernized armored vehicles ahead of schedule

The modernized armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicles are equipped with thermal imagers and modern communications and navigation equipment.

The Mykolaiv Armored Plant fulfilled the contract for the repair of about 50 BRDM units ahead of schedule, and handed them over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the press service of Ukroboronprom reports.

The specialists of the enterprise modernized and improved the tactical and technical characteristics of the basic vehicle BRDM-2. In particular, the ergonomics of the machine were improved due to reinforced armor of the side hatches, as well as thermal imagers and modern communication and navigation equipment that meet NATO standards were installed.

Mykolaiv Armored Plant is one of the main enterprises of Ukroboronprom, which specializes in the repair and modernization of armored wheeled vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 913 of November 6, 2019, the enterprise is included in the list of state property objects, it is of strategic importance for the economy and security of the state.

The armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle BRDM-2 is in service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It has increased maneuverability and is designed to conduct reconnaissance and escort convoys. It might be equipped with special weapons.
