Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy Yevhen Perelygin said that Ukrainian doctors who helped their Italian colleagues to treat coronavirus patients are returning home from Italy. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“Today [on April 23 – ed.], after almost three weeks of work in hospitals in the cities of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche region of Italy, our doctors are returning to Ukraine,” the ambassador wrote.
Perelygin noted that Ukrainian doctors gained important experience in the fight against COVID-19, which will come in handy when treating people in Ukraine.
“We are grateful for the love and mercy shown to us by fraternal Ukrainian doctors, the gesture of Ukraine amazes us even more precisely because your people at that time touched the tragedy of war and suffering,” the ambassador quoted the collective letter of the nuns of the monastery of St. Chiara
