Ukrainian exports drop by 1.5%, imports – by 9.5% since the year start

In the first 4 months of 2020, volume of export of Ukrainian goods decreased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, imports of goods to Ukraine decreased by 9.5%, according to the trade representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Hromadske reports.

“The negative balance was reduced by three and a half times from USD 2.1bn to USD 599m. Of course, this situation is not good for the economy as a whole and for public finances. This means a lack of economic growth and a decrease in budget revenues,” the report reads.

The export of metallurgical products from Ukraine has significantly decreased. According to Mr. Kachka, the decline in metallurgy exports partially blocked the growth in agricultural by USD 217m.
