Ukrainian government promises to increase salaries for health workers in April

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal said that salaries of health workers will increase in April, the press service of the President’s Office reports.

This was announced by the head of government at a daily conference call of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with governmental officials who are involved in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

During the meeting was raised the issue of protecting doctors from infection, as well as providing them with guarantees of work and appropriate payment.

“We have no time to wait, doctors are already working on the frontline, and their remuneration should be appropriate already now, not in a week or a month,” Zelensky said.

In his turn, Shmygal announced that the increase in the salary of doctors, as well as the indexation of pensions in April.

At the same time, the chairman of the State Border Service, Serhiy Deyneko, emphasized that passenger traffic in Ukraine has halved and there are no longer any queues at the border.

In addition, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that the number of crimes and traffic accidents decreased in conditions of quarantine.
