Due to public policy, the Ukrainians are paying for electricity 2.5 times less than Russians and Belarusians, said Ihor Nasalyk, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, at the government meeting.

“The Ukrainian population pays 2.5 times less than in Russia, and 2.6 times less than in Belarus,” the minister said.

According to Nasalyk, the public policy made it possible to stabilize the electricity tariffs for the population.

“Are Ukraine’s gas, coal or nuclear fuel cheaper? The public policy was shaped in a way giving an opportunity not to raise prices, and for 3 years we have not raised prices for the citizens who consume less than 100 kW,” the minister added.

As The Journalist reported, NBU predicts increasing of electricity rates by 25% from July.
