Ukrainians will be fined for unpaid utility bills from May

The law on the commercial accounting of communal services and the new basic law on housing and communal services come into force on May 1, 2019 in Ukraine, newformat reports.

Now customers have to pay for each cubic meter of water and GCal of heat, and debtors will be fined and the services will be cut off.

Consumers of services are required to let inspectors into their homes to perform a check.

Payment arrears will be charged from the 21st day of each month. The contractor must warn that the violator is threatened with lawsuits or disconnections from the services.

It also introduces a charge for a house meter.

As The Journalist reported, utility rates will continue to grow for third year in a row.
