UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called on the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan for peaceful settlement of border tensions, Xinhua reports.
To UN Secretary General Representative Stephane Dujarric, Guterres held phone conversations with the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia, during which he expressed concern about the tension along the Armenian-Azerbaijani international border, as well as about the in the region.
The UN Secretary General called on the parties for immediate and complete de-escalation, refrain from provocative rhetoric and resume negotiations.
