UN estimates tourism industry losses caused by pandemic

The tourist flow in the world in the H1 of 2020 decreased by 65% ​​due to the coronavirus pandemic, the UN World Tourism Organization reports.

Due to the significant drop in demand an estimated 440 million international travel has been canceled resulting in USD 460 billion loss for the global tourism sector. This is about five times more than the losses from international tourism recorded in 2009 amid the global economic crisis.

Asia has suffered the most from restrictions related to coronavirus, where tourist flow decreased by 72%. In Europe, it fell by 66%, in Africa and the Middle East by 57%, and in America by 55%.
