UN reports number of victims of hostilities in Donbas

The UN has clarified the number of conflict-related casualties in Donbas. The number varies from 42,000 to 44,000 people in the period from April 14, 2014 to August 31, 2020, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Radio Liberty reports.

To UN, the death toll ranges from 13,100 to 13,300, of which at least 3,367 are civilians, including 298 killed on board Malaysian Airlines flight MH17.

At least 4,150 Ukrainian soldiers and about 5,700 “members of armed groups” were killed during the war. The number of wounded persons during the war ranged from 29,500 to 33,500, of which 7,000-9,000 civilians, from 9,700 to 10,700 – Ukrainian military, and from 12,700 to 13,700 “members of armed groups.”
