For the first time since 2016, the US Navy has deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups in the Mediterranean Sea, as part of the drills, CNN reported.
“For the first time since 2016, the United States is deploying two Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, John C. Stennis and Abraham Lincoln, demonstrating to Moscow that the United States will in no way retreat in this important geopolitical region,” the report said.
It is noted that more than 130 aircraft, 10 ships and 9,000 sailors and marines take part in the exercises.
