Pentagon’s deputy chief political officer, John C. Rood, announced that the United States intends to develop a warning system for hypersonic missile defense in three years. This is stated on the website of the Committee on the Affairs of the US Armed Forces.

“First of all, we want to be able to detect and track the launches of hypersonic missiles. This is why the concept of placing cheap sensors in low-Earth orbit comes into force. We hope that we can start placing sensors in orbit in three years,” said Rood.

John Rood claims that potential US opponents are developing sophisticated ballistic and cruise missile systems with increased speed, range, accuracy, and mortality technical characteristics. China and the Russian Federation are working on the creation of hypersonic weapons, which is more difficult to track and eliminate.

Therefore, the United States defense is the first priority of the country.
