Ukraine, Belarus to start dredging Pripyat River this year

This year Ukraine, along with Belarus, intend to implement a joint program on conducting operational dredging of the Pripyat River.

This was announced by the head of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), Raivis Veckagans, Center for Transport Strategies informs.

“We are also implementing a program of dredging inland waterways this year. We are already in the process of dredging tenders for 1.2 million cubic meters in order to implement a joint program with the Republic of Belarus on dredging the Pripyat River,” said Vetskagans.

He also noted that the USPA processed 1.8 million cubic meters of operational dredging last year, which indicates an increase in the efficiency of its own fleet by 3.5 times compared to 2016.
