EU has agreed on a directive amending copyright legislation in the framework of the single digital market of the European Union. About this reports EU Council press service.

Among other things, the changes provide for additional media rights in connection with the secondary digital use of their publications. After amendments are made to the legislation, remuneration will also be granted to rights holders or content creators if their songs or videos are distributed via online portals.

“Today’s agreement is a sign of our determination to create a well-functioning, unified digital market that encourages the development of new businesses related to content in the interests of all European citizens. Therefore, we will reveal the possibilities of the digital world for creators whose rights must be fully respected and for European citizens who must take advantage of the digital market” said Valer Daniel Breaz, Minister of Culture and National Identity.

Previously, the "Journalist" reported that Bloomberg intends to spend $ 500 million on the campaign.
