The European Environment Committee has approved a ban on the use of plastic products, including cutlery, the European Environmental Bureau reported.
«Disposable plastic products, which constitute 70% of all marine litter items, will be banned as part of plans supported by the Environment Committee,» – the Committee said.
The Environment Committee emphasized that for the plastic products, which have no analogs in the EU, will be made an exception and it will be used till 2025.
The report will be voted by the plenary session of the European Parliament on October 22-25.
The ban will take effect in 2021.
