A group of armed men have attacked the main office of the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli (Libya).

As a result of the attack, two people were killed, and another ten were injured. The DW publication notes, that both killed were office guards.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack was carried out by five armed persons, one of them undermined himself during the attack. Subsequently, several explosions were heard in the building, and a gun fire began. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country declared that the attack was carried out by six persons. It is suspected that the attack was carried out by the militants of the ISIS terrorist group.

The Tripoli-based Government of the country stated that the security forces have effectively coped with the incident, rescuing employees and liquidating terrorists.
It should be noted that export is the main source of the country’s foreign exchange earnings. The National Oil Corporation reported USD 13.6 billion sales in the first half of this year, more than the previous year.

As The Journalist reported, more than 400 prisoners fled from the Tripoli prison.
