The Journalist studio was visited by Yevhen Koval, who is the author and organizer of Games of Heroes project. These are international sports competitions for AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) veterans, people with disabilities and representatives of armies of friendly countries. During his interview, our guest announced that in September final of cross-fit competition will take place in the capital of Ukraine.
«This year we held qualifying competitions in Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Dnipro, Ternopil, and soon the event will be held in Kherson and Odessa. Next will be Kyiv. All the guys who took prizes during this year (full information is in the corresponding table), will participate in final competition, which will be held in Kyiv. In addition, we will have foreign guests. It is already known that there will be athletes from the UK, USA, Georgia and Poland, perhaps a representative from Brazil will come. On September 9th in Kyiv in Sport complex Ice Stadium will be the final competition. There will be specially equipped field where during the whole day cross fit trials will be. You can come and support our athletes», – said Evhen Koval.

The author and organizer of Games of Heroes also remembered how it all began, and as a project for ATO veterans turned into international cross-fit competitions for adaptive athletes.
«It all started with the fact that my friends and I helped our defenders who were at the front. Once I saw American project Games of wounded athletes. This is a cross-fit competition for adaptive athletes. During such events in the United States veterans who have injuries and ordinary people with disabilities take part. After that such an idea has occurred. We came to hospital, offered a few guys to join us crossfit training. There was a specialist who conducted adaptive training. We saw that everything is real. So there was a need to hold competitions, which later became international», – said Evhen Koval.
According to him, in accordance with the results of various international competitions, Ukrainian adaptive athletes are currently the best in Europe and one of the best in the world.
The main goal of Games of Heroes is psychological and athletic sports rehabilitation of militaries, social adaptation of people with disabilities, introduction and distribution of sports movement among young people, vulnerable and socially vulnerable segments of population.
