On September 26, Russian activists held an isolated pickets in St. Petersburg in support of the illegally imprisoned Ukrainian director Oleh Sentsov, who announced an indefinite hunger strike on May 14 of this year, demanding the release of all Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin, serving their sentences in the Russian Federation. This is reported by Radio Liberty.
It is reported that six protesters were detained and taken to the police. Activists claim the detentions were unlawful.
Despite the current situation, the picket was held by 12 participants, who replaced each other; the main requirement was to swap prisoners between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
The organizer of the pickets is the activist of the Solidarity democratic movement in St. Petersburg, Olga Smirnova.
The demand to free Sentsov was made by the world’s artists, human rights activists and leaders of many countries in recent months.
Recall, Oleh Sentsov is already starving for 137 days. The political prisoner has repeatedly stressed that he will not give up his protest until all his demands will be fulfilled. The Ukrainian director was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for fabricated accusations of preparing terrorist acts in the Crimea, annexed by the Russia.
As The Journalist reported, Oleh Sentsov became an honorary citizen of Paris.
