A monument to the hero Ilya Muromets was installed on Trukhanova Island in Kyiv. This is posted on the park «Muromets» official page on Facebook.
The author of the monument is the sculptor Volodymyr Juravel.
Also worth noting that the owner of the title «World’s Strongest Man», Vasyl Virastyuk, has become the model for the sculpture of the hero.
INFO: Ilya Muromets (or Ilko Murovetz) – is a folk hero of ancient Kievan Rus’, often mentioned in Ukrainian folklore. He is featured alongside fellow bogatyrs Dobrynya Nikitich and Alyosha Popovich, with whom he protected native land from enemies. He is often mistakenly confused with another hero – St. Ilya from Moravia (Ilya Pechersky), buried in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
