UN experts on enforced disappearances to visit Ukraine

A group of three independent experts of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances will visit Ukraine. Within the framework of the visit, experts will meet relatives of people who have disappeared, reports «Strana.ua».

UN experts will arrive in Kiev on June 11to study measures to prevent enforced disappearances.

«The experts will study measures adopted by the State to prevent and eradicate enforced disappearances, including issues related to truth, justice and reparation for victims», – the message said.

Specialists will hold meetings with officials of Ukraine, representatives of civil society organizations, relevant UN agencies and others.
The Working Group comprised of five independent experts was established by the UN Commission on Human Rights in February, 1980.
