On September 4, MPs from the factions «Bloc Petro Poroshenko» and «People’s Front» submitted to the Parliament a draft resolution for nominating for the Nobel Peace Prize Oleh Sentsov, a Ukrainian film director and a political prisoner in the Russian Federation, who in May announced an unlimited hunger strike calling on to release all Ukrainian prisoners in the Russian Federation. This is reported by the Bykvu publication.
It is noted that draft resolution No. 9040 «On the statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Norwegian Nobel Committee on the nomination of Oleg Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize» was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada leadership.
Recall that on August 2015, the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don (RF) sentenced Oleh Sentsov, illegally detained in temporarily occupied Crimea in 2014, to a 20-year strict regime prison term for terrorism.
Now the political prisoner is serving a sentence in the strict regime colony in the city of Labytnangi (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District of the Russian Federation).
As The Journalist reported earlier, Sentsov wrote about his diagnoses in a letter to his Ukrainian colleague.
