Two metal containers with a total weight of 50 kg, filled with mercury, were found in the town of Vinnyky (Lviv oblast).
The law enforcement officers received information that bystanders found containers with unknown contents.
Security guards were put up at the site, as well as the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and other relevant services were notified on the accident, UNIAN reports.
“The containers were seized after the rescue survey. They contained 50 kg of mercury, which, approximately, was laid in the ground for about 30 years,“ said in a statement.

“The containers were wrapped in plastic bags. In one of the caches, we found a bottle dated 1989. Probably, someone once stole these containers at one of the enterprises, but did not have time to sold it for various reasons. They have already been seized, there is no danger to people’s life and health,” the message says.
As The Journalist reported, a swindler disguised as an employee of a parking lot sold 26 parking spaces to local residents in Odessa.
