U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker expressed his readiness to hold a meeting with the Russian Federation representatives to hold talks on Donbas. He stated this in his report at the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“I would like to meet with my Russian counterparts in the near future, but I do not know what form it should take at the moment. I am ready to meet with them to discuss a way forward, if Russia is serious about making progress,” Volker said.

At the same time, the special representative stressed that, in his opinion, as before, a good first step for Russia would be to release the Ukrainian sailors and vessels it seized during its unjustified attack near the Kerch Strait.

“We are open to support initial steps to build confidence, we are also focused on the key elements of the implementation of the Minsk agreements, starting with the ceasefire, withdrawal of foreign forces, the disarming of the illegal armed groups, and creating a situation of security in Donbas so that additional political steps as a part of the Minsk agreements could be taken,” Volker said.

As The Journalist reported, Volker presented a website to counter Russian Federation aggression in Ukraine.
