President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with The Telegraph urged to leave Ukraine out of U.S. 2020 presidential election, after MP Andrii Derkach unveiled audio materials allegedly contain conversations between former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and former U.S. vice president Joe Biden.
“Why it is necessary to drag Ukraine into this, again? Now we are enjoying support in the United States, both in Congress and in the Senate. We have the support of the president. These taped are not a priority,” Zelensky said.
According to him, “Ukraine does not want to influence the internal or foreign political situation in any country, or the electoral process in any country.” At the same time, the strategic partnership between Kyiv and Washington is very important.
The President of Ukraine also denies any involvement in the leak of tapes of the conversation between Poroshenko and Biden. Zelensky said that he interested most in the fact how any conversations could be eavesdropped in the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.
“Look, I don’t know anything about the details of this agreement [between Poroshenko and Biden – ed.]. Whether it was reached or not, whether it existed. The only thing I am interested in is how one could eavesdrop, to tape the Office of the President of Ukraine,” the president emphasized.
