President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the BBC’s Hard Talk said that changes to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the “special status” of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which the Russian Federation speaks of, are impossible today.

“As for the disagreements that I have, and in our society, that Mr. Poroshenko signed – yes, they exist. And everyone knows this, both Mrs. Merkel and Putin, I have repeatedly openly said: no, there will be conditions, there will be special conditions, a law on special status – these are changes to the Constitution in accordance with decentralization. All of this should be, I agree with that. But those changes to the Constitution that they want are impossible today,” Zelensky stressed.

At the same time, he said that the transfer of control over the state border in Donbas to Ukraine after the local elections in ORDLO is wrong.

“We cannot provide elections there. None of the observers will come. Who will come to that part of Donbas and hold elections there if there are armed people there? Everyone understands this. But we are following Minsk agreements. Yes, Minsk accords should be a little more flexible. You understand that time has passed […],” Zelensky convinced.
