Zelensky, EC President discussed allocation of EU’s financial assistance to Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on steps for allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, the President’s Office reports.

The parties also discussed further EU support in trilateral negotiations on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the gas transmission system of Ukraine.

The total amount of the EU macro-financial assistance to Ukraine is 500 million euros.

The National Bank of Ukraine expects that Ukraine will be able to obtain approve a new program with the International Monetary Fund in early 2020. The chairman of the NBU, Yakiv Smoliy, said this during a briefing, Radio Liberty reports.
