Zelensky, Erdogan discuss preparations for meeting of strategic council in Kyiv

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the phone conversation have discussed the state of preparations for holding the next round of the meeting of the Strategic Council in Kyiv, co-chaired by the heads of the two states.

The phone conversation took place the day before, November 6, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.

Presidents agreed on the importance of intensifying the negotiation process to prepare for the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey.

Zelensky welcomed the participation of Turkish companies in the Arms and Security-2019 exhibition, noting the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the context of strengthening the defense capability of Ukraine.

In his turn, Erdogan emphasized the invariability of Turkey’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also welcomed Zelensky’s steps towards a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.
