Zelensky, Merkel by phone discuss Normandy Summit preparations, issue of gas shipments through Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This was reported by the president’s press service.

The leaders of the two states have discussed preparations for a Normandy Four summit and the security situation in Donbas.

Zelensky noted the importance of Germany’s support of Ukraine.

Merkel, in her turn, welcomed the progress made in the withdrawal of forces in Zolote.

During a telephone conversation, the parties discussed the issue of transit shipments of Russian gas through the Ukrainian territory. The parties agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation in that direction.
