President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel on sidelines of 74th UN General Assembly session, the presidential press service reported.
The leaders of the two countries discussed the preparations for the meeting of the leaders of the Normandy format aimed to agree on further steps to resolve the conflict in east Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine remains consistent in fulfilling its obligations for a peaceful settlement of conflict in Donbas and told about the work progress on restoration of the destroyed bridge near the Stanytsia Luhanska settlement.
The Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, in her turn, noted the continued support for Ukraine’s efforts aimed at establishing peace in the east of the country.
