President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed creating a subgroup on the issue of returning the border to Ukrainian control, within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk. He said this during a press conference following the Normandy Four summit.
“I suggested to create a separate subgroup within TCG in Minsk, which deals exclusively with the issue of phased control over the Ukrainian border,” the president said.
Zelensky said that he proposed to complete this process before the local elections in Donbas.
According to the head of state, the border issue is the main defeat for Ukraine in Minsk.
“The position of the President of the Russian Federation is agreed with the Minsk agreements,” Zelensky added.
And according to this position, the border should be returned under Ukraine’s control only after the holding election in ORDLO, because Zelensky believes that there may be another compromise on the transfer of the border, not provided for by Minsk.
