The presidential bill on criminal liability for illegal enrichment and civil confiscation will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for the second time.
“The Parliament rejected the president’s bill, providing for the possibility to punish those illegally profited and received illegal assets. This legislative initiative was just the only one in the parliament that allowed for punishment of those who had been illegally earning over the past few years”, said the deputy head of the presidential administration, Ruslan Riaboshapka.
The deputy head noted that the bill had been developed over a long period of time by the best Ukrainian and foreign experts, as UNIAN reports.
“This edition was approved by the experts of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. It means the reaction of the parliament to be politically irresponsible. It is a sort of revenge not just on President Volodymyr Zelensky, but, first of all, on Ukrainians and their demand for fair punishment for corrupt officials”, Riaboshapka emphasized.
It is noted that such actions of the deputies once again highlight the president’s right decision to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada.
