Almost 11 thousand people became victims of natural disasters in 2018

During the course of 2018, 10,773 people died in the world due to natural disasters and 61.7 million people were injured. About this Center for Studies on Epidemiology of Disasters, reports Anadolu.

Taking into account the information about 281 natural disasters, the Center stated that the greatest number of human victims of natural disasters was recorded in Indonesia, India and Guatemala. At the same time, natural disasters caused the greatest damage last year to India, the Philippines and China. 3.4 million people were affected by earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic activity in 2018. These cataclysms in Indonesia killed 4,417 people, Guatemala – 425, Papua New Guinea – 145 people. In 2018, 4321 people died in the world from earthquakes.
The Center noted that in order to counteract the elements, you need to learn how to manage the risks of natural disasters.
