71-year-old photojournalist of the Associated Press, Pulitzer Prize winner Alan Diaz has died reported CNN.
The causes of death are still unknown.
Pulitzer Award Diaz received for his most famous photo, which captured the frightened Cuban boy Elian Gonzalez and the American bailiff who threats him with a submachine gun.
The picture was taken in 2000, when six-year-old Elian, illegally removed from Cuba and living with relatives in Florida, was returned to his homeland to his father. Alan Diaz expected the bailiffs with the permission of the boy’s relatives.
A few hours later, little Elian Gonzalez was already back in Cuba. Now he is 24 years old, he remains one of the most famous people of the island of Freedom.
