This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

“According to expert estimates, 3.2 million Ukrainian citizens work abroad on a regular basis and from 7 to 9 million people work abroad in a definite period,” the ministry said.

At the same time, according to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine for 2015-2017, the number of migrant workers aged 15-70 years was 1.3 million, up 10.3% compared with the previous research period (in 2010-2012).

As noted, the labour migration of Ukrainians is facilitated by the efforts of European countries (such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany) to simplify the employment procedure for skilled personnel from Ukraine.

“Highly skilled workers (gas welders, turners, locksmiths), as well as specialists in the fields of physical, mathematical, chemical sciences, IT, medical workers, etc., are in demand,” the statement said.

As of July 1, there are 1,917 companies that have a license from the Ministry of Social Policy for mediation in the employment of citizens abroad. In 2018, they found work for 97.1 thousand Ukrainians, Radio Liberty reports.

The largest flows of labor migration were to Cyprus (19.2 thousand), Poland (12.5 thousand), Germany (10.6 thousand), Great Britain (7.9 thousand) and Greece (7 thousand).

Of the total number abroad, 92% were men. Before traveling abroad, 40% of labor migrants from Ukraine worked in the field of transport, warehousing, the postal and courier sectors, in the processing industry (12%) and in construction (11%).

As The Journalist reported, flow of Ukrainian labor force to Poland may decrease.
