On June 26th on the grounds of Saint Sofia Cathedral in Kyiv the First Charity Evening « Anne de Kyiv. The New Millennium» was held.
It’s goal was to raise funds for the restoration of the building of the Cultural Center of Anne de Kyiv in France, as well as the creation of a museum dedicated to Queen Anne. Thanks to the donations of philanthropists who visited the event, the organizers managed to raise 5 million 500 thousand hryvnias.
The cultural center of Anne de Kyiv is a cultural and spiritual embassy of Ukraine in the city of Senlis, which is 40 km away from Paris, where Anne de Kyiv, daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, the queen of France, ruled thousand years ago. A charitable evening was attended by more than two hundred state, public and cultural figures. Among them: Maryna Poroshenko, The Right Reverend Borys Gudziak, Yevhen Nyshchuk, Isabelle Dumont, Oleg Shamshur, Yaroslava Johnson, Anna Canter, Victoria Dellinger, Iryna and Victor Ivanchik, Ekaterina and Hlib Zagoriy, Victor and Kateryna Yushchenko, Lyudmila and Gennadyi Zubko and others.
Ambassador of France to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont described the importance of the figure of Anna de Kyiv in history: «Anna de Kyiv was not an ordinary queen. First of all, she became a symbol of unity between the two parts of Europe, at that time they were very distant from each other. In this sense, she became a pioneer on the way of Kyiv to Europe. Subsequently, she played a decisive role in the Capetian dynasty. Her love of freedom and the strength of her character made her a person with a halo of mystery that causes admiration».
The organizers of the charity evening note that the Cultural Center of Anna de Kyiv in France will become a platform through which we will be able to show the world all the best that is in Ukraine and talk about outstanding Ukrainians. The Museum of Anna de Kyiv, which will operate in the building of the center, will be the first physical and digital museum about Queen Anne and the role of Ukraine in the creation of Europe.
«Anna de Kyiv is an immigrant queen who has managed to build spirituality in a foreign country. The project of the Cultural Center of Anna Kyiv in France is a project about Ukraine in Europe. We plan to be here for the next thousand years, as they were a thousand years ago», said Victoria Dellinger, co-founder of the Cultural Center of Anne de Kyiv, during a charity evening.
Restoration work in the historical building of the center and the church will begin already in 2018. They will be held under the patronage of The Right Reverend Borys Gudziak, who has been leading and coordinating charitable initiatives for many years in Ukraine and abroad.
«Today, the greatest challenge to Ukraine is hope and trust. The Cultural Center of Anna de Kyiv will be the center of rapprochement and resistance of three million Ukrainians living outside Ukraine», he said at a charity evening in Kyiv.
