The World Bank and State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine analyzed ten Ukrainian roads and named the tracks, which could be the first toll roads in the country, Segodnya.ua reports.
The head of "Ukrdorinvest" Olena Krivoruchko identified several roads that may soon become paid. For example, to build a new road Kyiv – Bila Tserkva, will cost USD 535 million and will take three years. At the same time, the investor will be able to return a little over 5% (almost USD 27 million) per year. The second direction is Lviv – Krakovets. It will take USD 290 million and two years to build a new road, and investors will be able to earn USD 4 million a year. The third direction is Lviv – Ternopil. The expansion of the road from two lanes to four here will require USD 293 million investments and, according to experts, will take up to three years. On this road investors will be able to earn USD 35 million a year.
It is noted that in addition to the need to find an investor, the problem of the situation is that Ukrainians will not ready to use toll roads. Especially considering the fact that there should always be free alternatives.
According to transport expert Oleksandr Kava, to travel Kyiv-Bila Tserkva road (approximately 60 km distance) can cost from 60 to 120 UAH (about 2-3, maximum 4 liters of gasoline in equivalent).
