Singer Maruv, who won Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision, said she was under pressure and she is tried to make her refuse to represent Ukraine at a prestigious contest. She wrote about this on her Facebook page.
"The last 24 hours have been the most emotional in my life. I won a fair victory in the National selection for Eurovision-2019, having received the maximum support from the viewers and high rates from juries. But now they want to take away my victory,” the message says.
The singer noted that she was ready to abandon performances in Russia and take on all the costs of participation in the competition.
“I am ready to abandon performances in Russia. I answered all questions that interested the jury live. I have not visited the Crimea since 2014. I have not violated a single law of Ukraine. I am also ready to take on all the costs of participating in the international competition,” Maruv emphasized.
In addition, she said that the contract of National Public Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) prohibits her from improvising on the stage (violation will result in a fine of about 2 million hryvnia) and uncoordinated communication with journalists, and also oblige to fulfill any requirements and instructions of NTU. Among the duties of National Technical University of Ukraine, the contract states “to give hints regarding the rules of the competition” and “with the permission of the National Technical University of Ukraine to take 10 people at their own expense”.
“I feel pressure! And I see obvious attempts to make me refuse to represent my country at the international Eurovision Song Contest 2019,” Maruv noted.
