Domestic pork and lard prices increased in Ukraine in 2018. According to the analytical resource Pro Consulting, the average price increase by 5-7%.

According to currently available data, the most expensive fat is sold in the city of Kyiv – an average price here is UAH 120 per kg. Slightly lower prices are in Kyiv and Mykolaiv oblasts – UAH 88 and UAH 85, respectively.

At the same time, in the Zhytomyr and Volyn oblasts one kilogram of fat can be bought almost twice cheaper: for UAH 55. The lowest price for this product is in Ternopil – just UAH 50 per kg.

The average pork price increased by 5.5% – from UAH 110 to UAH 116. The highest prices are in Kharkiv, Zakarpattia and Odessa oblasts: about UAH 122-123 per kg; the cheapest – in Volyn and Ternopil oblasts, UAH 105-106 per kg, respectively.

“The change in meat prices in Ukraine is associated with a reduction in the herd of farm animals. This is caused by a decrease in the profitability of production and problems with the sale of products due to the low purchasing power of the population and export restrictions,” analysts say.
