The Kharkiv Human Rights Group reports that in places of deprivation of liberty in the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts (ORDLO) controlled by the militants, people are subjected to torture and are detained without proper grounds. This is reported on the organization’s website.
According to the results of a study conducted jointly with Donbass SOS, «Alternativa» Luhansk Regional Human Rights Center and the Public Committee for the Protection of Constitutional Rights and Freedoms of Citizens, there is no adequate medical support in the penitentiary institutions in the ORDLO area.
It is noted that in certain institutions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions registered the use of forced or unpaid labor. Also, human rights activists report cases of lack of heating in the houses damaged by shelling; lack of high-quality drinking water, as well as hourly electricity supply in some institutions; cases of torture, most affected by those who are not happy with the change of power.
Kharkiv Human Rights Group emphasized that a part of people is in detention unreasonably.
