The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nishchuk has ordered to museum workers to conduct a complete inventory of all icons and other cultural and historical valuables in the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). This is stated by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, as the Ukrainian News reported.

As part of the reaction to the appeal (No. 04-35 / III-040918 of September 4, 2018), filled by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yuriy-Bogdan Shukhevych (Radical Party faction Oleh Lyashko), regarding the possible threat of illegal export of cultural property from religious buildings of the UOC, the Minister of Culture has ordered to conduct the inventory of cultural values in temples. First of all, at the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra, Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
Recall that on October 11, the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate supported the extension of the granting of autocephaly to Ukraine, and also officially stated that the mother-church for Ukraine is Constantinople. Also, the Synod removed the anathema from the head of the UOC-KP Filaret and the Head of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Macarius. The head of the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret said that in the near future a unifying Bishops’ Council would be held to create a single Ukrainian local church.
As The Journalist reported, Poroshenko wants to transfer St. Andrew’s Church to permanent use by Ecumenical Patriarch.
